What an incredible three days it has been!

The 2nd Automation & Robotics Expo took place from April 25 to April 27 in Athens, Greece, bringing together leading players from across the industry to showcase the latest advancements in automation and robotics. CORE Innovation Group was proud to be there once again, presenting cutting-edge industrial solutions developed through Horizon Europe projects, as well as COREbeat, our end-to-end predictive maintenance platform.

The event was filled with innovation, insightful discussions, and hands-on experiences through educational seminars, conferences, and workshops. Most importantly, it created the perfect environment for meaningful conversations and new connections within the automation and robotics community.

The CORE Innovation Group Booth

Throughout the three-day event, we had the pleasure of welcoming numerous visitors to our booth, offering them a first-hand look at our latest technologies and solutions.

At the center of our showcase was COREbeat, our predictive maintenance platform powered by IoT, Edge Computing, and AI. Visitors experienced a live demonstration featuring a motor connected to beatBox, COREbeat’s hardware component. By intentionally introducing a fault into the system, attendees could observe how COREbeat’s user interface detected anomalies in near real time, demonstrating the platform’s practical value in industrial environments.

In addition, visitors explored a range of innovative demos:

3D Printer Digital Twin
A real-time, AI-enhanced digital twin solution designed to monitor, analyze, and detect defects in Laser Powder Bed Fusion 3D printing. The system combines sensor data, simulations, and in-situ imaging to ensure high-quality production.

Smart Manufacturing Assistant (Reman Guidance System – RGS)
An Agentic AI-powered support system that evaluates returned parts for remanufacturability. It provides clear, explainable technical and economic recommendations while simplifying approval workflows and cost-deposit processes.

Energy Management System (EMS)
An intelligent, integrated energy management platform that leverages AI and Machine Learning to optimize energy usage and improve overall efficiency. EMS collects real-time data from diverse sources—including process loads, on-site renewable generation, energy storage, and grid pricing—and applies multi-objective optimization to deliver cost-effective and sustainable energy scheduling, prioritizing renewable energy and reducing CO₂ emissions.

We also showcased our ongoing research and innovation Horizon EU projects led by the CORE Innovation Centre, highlighting projects such as TRINEFLEX, ELEXIA, MASTERMINE, and REUMAN. You can get a more in-depth look on our Industry 4.0 research projects here

Our booth was designed and brought to life by the talented team at of Level Up Events & Exhibitions.

Industry Panel Discussions

Our presence at the A&R Expo extended well beyond demonstrations and technology showcases. Across all three days, CORE Innovation Group's Managing Partners, Dr. Nikos Kyriakoulis and Stefanos Kokkorikos, took to the stage for panel discussions, shared insights with industry media, and engaged in the broader conversations shaping the future of automation and robotics.

On the first day of the Expo, April 25, Stefanos Kokkorikos joined the panel “AI & Smart Cities.” The discussion focused on where artificial intelligence is currently creating real value in industry, the challenges of transforming industrial data into actionable insights, and how traditional sectors can adopt AI without fully replacing their existing infrastructure. The panel also explored whether AI and automation are replacing or enhancing the human role, as well as what the next major developments in Industrial AI may look like over the next 3–5 years.

The second day of the Expo, April 26, brought another exciting highlight: Dr. Nikos Kyriakoulis, Managing Partner of CORE Innovation Group, sat down for an on-camera interview with Metal Industry. From the live COREbeat demonstration to the Digital Twin system for defect detection in metal additive manufacturing, the conversation dived into the real-world impact of industrial AI, and what it truly means for a factory floor to become smarter, more resilient, and more sustainable.

Finally, on the last day, April 27, Dr. Nikos Kyriakoulis participated in the panel “Industrial & Building Automations.” He discussed the current state of the Greek industrial sector in terms of automation and its progress toward Industry 4.0 and 5.0. He also highlighted key barriers to adoption, practical entry points for companies beginning their digital transformation journey, and ways organizations can better identify their real needs. Additionally, he shared insights into the tangible benefits AI can bring to industry. The discussion concluded with a forward-looking perspective on the evolving role of the workforce in an AI-driven world, addressing concerns about job displacement and emphasizing adaptation and opportunity.

Engaging with the community

Throughout the expo, our team had the opportunity to connect with a diverse audience—from experienced industry professionals to newcomers exploring the field of automation and robotics. We exchanged ideas, shared knowledge, and discussed the trends shaping the future of the industry.

This year’s event confirmed that the future of automation and robotics is both dynamic and promising. We look forward to continuing this journey alongside the community and seeing how innovation and collaboration will shape the next generation of industrial solutions.
