CORE Innovation Group and the CORE Innovation Centre have been awarded 3 new Horizon Europe projects. With a total of over 50 ongoing or completed research projects, and a budget of over 25 million €, we are excited to join forces with our partners all over the world for these brand new R&I initiatives.
You can read the summaries below for a brief overview of what you can expect from our team and our consortia over the next few years.
ORGANIC
ORGANIC BIOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION OF ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING PROCESSES FOR THE SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING OF BIO-INSPIRED PRODUCTS
The ORGANIC project aims to revolutionise manufacturing by introducing bio-intelligent strategies, processes, and materials into additive manufacturing (AM). Leveraging digital twins, AI-driven decision systems, and sustainable bio-based composites, ORGANIC will create advanced environmentally friendly, highly efficient production methods. The project brings together research organizations, technology developers, and industry partners to deliver solutions that enhance competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation across European manufacturing.
-
CORE IC is responsible for designing and implementing AAS-based digital twins that integrate bio-intelligent manufacturing processes into the project’s Gentelligent Digital Platform. In addition, our team will lead on AAS-based asset digitalisation, ensuring interoperability and data-driven optimisation of additive manufacturing systems.
Beyond these roles, our technical team will also contribute to development of the project’s digital platform and upskilling activities, positioning itself as a key enabler for making ORGANIC’s outcomes market-ready and scalable.
NURISH
NURturing transformative capacities, Innovation in NBS and Harmonious resilience in rural areas
NURISH aims to enhance climate resilience and sustainable development in rural and small urban communities through nature-based (NBS), technological, and circular economy solutions. Supporting the EU’s vision for stronger, connected, and prosperous rural areas by 2040, it promotes territorial cohesion, innovation, skills, sustainable agriculture, and job creation. The project will develop a Regenerative Rural Resilience Framework to help communities mitigate climate risks, foster entrepreneurship, and create green jobs.
Resilience Hubs in Greece, Cyprus, Finland, and the UK will showcase tailored NBS for flooding, water scarcity, and land degradation, supported by digital tools for monitoring and decision-making. The project will also engage local communities through the EU Rural Pact, advancing collaboration, conservation, and restoration. By sharing knowledge and scaling solutions, NURISH will ensure adaptability across Europe, contributing to the EU Green Deal, the Climate Adaptation Strategy, and rural prosperity goals.
-
CORE IC will lead on the development of the NURISH platform, which integrates and orchestrates data from multiple sources while enabling the deployment of digital tools across the project.
We will also lead the exploitation strategies, supporting the growth and scaling of Nature-Based Enterprises. Additionally, we will contribute to defining user requirements and monitoring data streams, to ensure effective, reliable, and actionable insights throughout the project lifecycle.
BIOGEMSE
BIO-INTELLIGENT PRODUCTS MANUFACTURING 4 SUSTAINABLE CITIES
BIOGEMSE will develop advanced technologies for manufacturing bio-intelligent, sustainable, and modular components with complex shapes, specifically tailored for the needs of the construction sector. By utiliSing circular bio-based materials (fully recyclable and produced from industrial waste streams) this innovative initiative will accelerate the biologization of the European manufacturing industry while aligning it with the SDGs and the NEB goals for cities.
-
CORE IC will lead the development of a modular digital architecture and middleware and of the AAS-based Digital Twin, which will integrate AI methodologies to facilitate the estimation of product characteristics. Our team is also responsible for the development of the Digital Product Passport, providing access to product information along their lifecycle.
